Description
With over 2,200 employees and researchers, the Institut national de recherches archéologiques préventives is the largest archaeological research organisation in France and one of the largest in Europe. Under the dual supervision of the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, INRAP carries out the bulk of archaeological diagnoses and excavations in partnership with private and public developers: almost 2,000 sites a year in France and the French overseas departments.The Institute's remit extends to the scientific exploitation of the results and the dissemination of archaeological knowledge to the general public.It is organised around a head office in Paris and eight regional or inter-regional offices, and has a budget of €175 million.
