Description
The Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec (MNBAQ) is home to the largest, most impressive collection of Québécois art, with more than 42,000 pieces spanning from the 17th century onward. It provides an exceptional journey through Québec’sart history. The MNBAQ borders the Plains of Abraham in Québec City, a World Heritage City. This prime location between city and nature gives the museum a unique charm and makes it a must-see attraction. As part of the city’s art district, the MNBAQ is highly involved in its community. It stays in tune with the city’s major cultural events throughout the year. It also brightens the city beyond its walls— literally—thanks to Lumière sur l’art, a series of giant lamps along Cartier Avenue where Québécois contemporary artists are given carte blanche to create uniquely brilliant works each year.
